BRIAN E. RICH

June 1982 - December 2022

On December 14, 2022 Brian's life ended decades too soon.  An adored (and adoring) husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend - his quiet humor, intelligence, loyalty and kindness of spirit were unmatched.

Brian married his wife, Emily, in 2016. Their infant daughter, Edith, was his proudest accomplishment and greatest challenge - a challenge he accepted with open arms and endless gratitude. He is also survived by his parents, Tim and Deborah (Donaldson) Rich; siblings David (Becky) Rich and Amy (Ben) Vosmek; nieces and nephews Victoria, Delia, Reese, Corban, James, Penelope and Olivia; grandmother Blanche (Ronald) Reeder; uncle Steven Donaldson and aunt Connie Huss. He is preceded in death by sister Sarah, grandfather Ernest Donaldson and grandparents Alvin and Marguerite Rich.

A lifelong hockey player, Brian's diehard fandom of the Chicago Blackhawks was well documented, as was his passion for the Bears, Cubs and Bulls. As an avid foodie, Brian was on a quest to find the city's best restaurants, best hamburger and best craft beer.

He graduated from Northern Illinois University and pursued a career in TV videography and photographic journalism. Brian's creativity and talent served him well as a visual journalist for the Sun-Times Media Group, and as a photographer/editor for ABC 7 Chicago's Windy City Live, WGN-TV's Chicago's Best, WGN-TV's Living Healthy and WTVO News in Rockford.
